Really Bird Stories

And so it is October and Red Comet Press is now well and truly launched. Our first season is in full swing and all the signs are looking positive, thanks to the incredible support of members of the book community who are giving us some wonderful feedback about the list.

And now it is time to reveal the next list of titles. I’m delighted to share with you Spring 2022 which includes some wonderful offerings.

We have our first non-fiction title from well known author Harriet Ziefert called Be Thankful for Trees. Illustrated by Brian Fitzgerald, this is an 80-page tribute to trees and all the things they provide to make life possible. Publication is scheduled in time for Earth Day and Arbor Day, both of which occur in late April.

Harriet Ziefert has also teamed up with illustrator Travis Foster for a brand new early reader series called 'Really Bird Stories'. Really Bird lives his emotions out loud and seeks to solve life’s little problems with the help of his friends Cat and Pup. Kids will be laughing so hard, they won’t even notice they are learning to read. And there will be a Really Bird plush available in time for the first two titles which we will publish in April 2022.

If you fell in love with the fox and dormouse characters from Before We Sleep, I am delighted to share with you the sequel to that book The Friendship Surprise. We pick up the story in the spring when the dormouse wakes to discover a new friendship situation which they must all navigate together. Another charming friendship story with exquisite illustrations by Paolo Proietti.

The Most Important Thing is an animal fable featuring large fold out pages. It explores the topic of acceptance of others and understanding of differences with classic humorous illustrations by Antonella Abbatiello.

You won’t want to miss My Dad is a Grizzly Bear by Swapna Haddow and Dapo Adeola. This book introduces a lively family including the dad, whose son is convinced he is really a grizzly bear - all the signs are there! Spectacular art and hilarious text deliver a fun and playful stop with a heartwarming ending; a perfect read aloud for Father’s Day, or any other day for that matter.

Imagine!

Imagine!

I am beyond proud to offer Imagine! By Bruno Tognolini, illustrated by Giulia Orecchia. Tognolini is arguably Italy’s most beloved children’s poet, but, until now, he has never been published in English. We worked hard to find the right translator to tackle this musical text and bring it faithfully to life. Imagine! features words of hope that deserve to be shared and shouted out loud. With rhythmic rhyming verses, this uplifting book will leave the reader wishing for a better future for all.

And, for the very youngest of readers, an ingenious concertina board book called Tummy Time! featuring high contrast images and an embedded mirror. Developmentally appropriate for 0-12 months, this is a perfect first book, and is especially perfect as baby shower gift.

And that’s our list. More information can be found in the Books Section which features all of the titles in more detail. I hope you find a gem or two to love.
